Well looking back through some old photos(and i'm a young lass of 27), i noticed pics of me on my fathers shoulders at e-town, when i was about 3yrs old. I can remember before they put up the new tower in like 87 or so. I also remember "BIG DADDY" DON GARLITS, doing a 180 in swamp rat 30 and heading back for the starting line during the '86 summer nats. I also have a pic of me in the library(on the can) when i was about 3 or 4, and i'm holding an issue of hot rod!
So whats your earliest car/race memories?

I'VE GOT AN AUTOGRAPHED & LAMINATED LARGE PHOTO OF DON PRUDOMME AND HIS FUNNY CAR FROM JUNE 1977! PLUS IT WAS THE SAME DAY SLAMMIN SAMMY MILLER WENT 4.40 IN THE 1/4 MI. AND 1.91 1/8MI. AT E-TOWN WITH HIS VANISHING POINT VEGA! THE WEIRD THING ABOUT THAT CAR WAS? IT WAS NOT LOUD LIKE ALL OTHER ROCKET CARS THAT I'VE SEEN OVER THE YEARS THAT nuts WAS WHISPER QUIET!!! BUT FAST AS HELL!!!! (CAN'T REMEMBER THE M.P.H. BUT IT STILL HOLDS THE RECORD TODAY AT E-TOWN) AND THIS CAN BE VIEWED IN A CURRENT ISSUE OF RACEWAY NEWS TOWARDS THE BACK COVER! OH! AND THATS SOME GREAT STUFF SIRE! (UPDATE!!! THE M.P.H. WAS NOT LISTED IN RACEWAY NEWS)

gees I come from a split family and weirdly enough my mom was the one that raced. She was and i think still is Pontiac happy with her GTO's. would tell me storys of her streetraces from the 60's and 70's with her 64 GTO down in Newark (not sure of the spots I think by the ports somewhere) sadly i was not old enough to remember her first 64 GTO that she has since 65. But can remember her other GTO's and the few Chevys in between. I can still remember everything that was done to the GTO's and most of the race stories.

My old man had a I-Beam gasser 57 Chevy, 66-post Chevelle and a 64 Pontiac after we were born. First memorie was me in diapers standing on the front seat of my uncles 454 LS6 57 Bell Air 4-gear car slapping the dash board (they tell me) saying "faster faster faster" and crying if he didnt Then I remember we went to the track and my dads buddies roof flew off his 66 vette around the 1100 ft mark. I also remember a orange swinger doing a burnout past the starting line and backing up and I thought? What the f**k is this guy doing, whys he backing up. ;D. Somehow turned into a major mopar freak when I was 15, then saw a DSM in 1999 (always loved them) run 12.00 w/ no burnout w/ 2 ppl in it and vowed to own one.

well for me it was streetracing long before ever going to the track , i guess i was around 10 or 11 , my dad had moved up north and my first summer visiting him we heard a bunch of cars doing burnouts and such ,i asked my dad what that was all about , he told me they where racing on the streets ( he lived in a very rural area ) , well one nite my dad was out and it was my cousin and i left alone so we decided that we should venture out to find all the noise , after we crossed a few 10 acre fields we discovered a road that was riddled with burnouts and rubber , never did see the cars but i soon put two and two together , the next experiance was my 16th birthday , my uncle took me out to experinace the lifestyle that my father had introduced him to on his 16th b-day , from then on it was a weekly deal till i was 25 , that,s when my son was born and the scene became a partyfest with nothin but drunken idiots . as for the track , i was 20 yrs old the firsttime i visited a dragstrip , the closet on at that time was 3hrs away , fast forward to today we have one 25min drive from my house and my family and a large group of racers gather there every fridaynite for the streetlegals to get our fix , streetracing is all but a dream around here now , the ricers and rat racers doing their fast and fruitless racing through the downtown streets have killed the lifestyle , not to mention the continual growth of the area and secluded spots are getting very sparse , the down falls of living in a valley on the coast , got water to the west , the usa border to the south and mountains surrounding the north and east . it will be revieved one of these years when the timing is right .

Yea,..I remember the roads covered in rubber and burn-outs and finally putting 2-and-2 together after hearing all the noise..(and what a sweet sound it is/was) Still remember the first time waiting up to 4am just to watch a few races. Totally worth it! Hooked ever since, although spectating and participating are 2 completely different things.

I'VE GOT AN AUTOGRAPHED & LAMINATED LARGE PHOTO OF DON PRUDOMME AND HIS FUNNY CAR FROM JUNE 1977! I've got 2 autographed pics of Don anad the Pepsi Challenger from 82 or 83 from US 30 in Indiana. That track is closed now, but my oldest memory is as a shorty and my father tacking me to the track and walking me around on his sholders. It was a great time and years latter I took my oldest son and did the same we would stand at the starting line with him on my sholders and I would have my fingers in my ears and he would be the same way on my sholders. That would last until he fell a sleep and we had to go home..
